Heavy rain greeted the Cockshoot Cup drivers at Cadwell Park on August 17th. The start of qualifying was delayed, and eventually the Clerk of the Course decided to run the cars behind the pace car with the grid being set by Championship positions. By race time, the sky was blue and the track was dry. Unfortunately, the race was then red flagged just after half distance resulting in a truncated race. Mike Peters took another victory, and Class B win from Peter Bramble and Alan Bates. Peter had a bad start, but worked his way through past Alan in his repaired MGBGT. In Class A, Ian Wright took maximum points from a hard charging Graham Prosser. Steve McKie was chasing in third, but a grassy moment allowed Jeremy Toes to power through and take the podium place. Class F was dominated by Paul Rigg who broke his own lap record in the process. This week, Helen Waddington got the better of Margaret Farquhar-Rigg to take second in Class. With two rounds left at Croft, the Championship is still wide open with drivers having to drop scores from their worst events with the best seven counting for the Championship.

The Cockshoot Cup drivers had perfect track conditions on the Fosters Circuit at Oulton Park on August 2nd which resulted in new lap records being set in all the classes. Mike Peters set fastest time in qualifying and was never headed on his way to a clear win. Mike's fastest lap of 1.12.562 beat Mark Ashworth's time of 1.12.59 which had stood as the record since 1997. Behind Mike, an early dice between Peter Bramble and Alan Bates in their MGBs ended when Alan lost control and contacted the unyielding Oulton Park armco barrier on the Avenue. Peter never gave up on chasing Mike and put in some spectacular driving to finish second in the race. In third place was Martin Richardson having a one off, non points scoring drive in his historic specification MGB. Third in Class B was grabbed by John Wreghitt in his MGB. In Class A, Paul Newton was quickest in qualifying and took the early lead from Ian Wright, but a water leak forced Paul out of the race. Ian then drove a flawless race to take the Class win and break Sean Peter's lap record from 2002. Richard Sapcote finished second in Class, but only just held off Graham Prosser who was closing on every lap, the official gap being 0.073 seconds. Steve Mckie was close behind the first three from Jeremy Toes whose race was compromised by a spectacular spin at Old Hall Corner. The final record breaker was Helen Waddington who took Class F and a new lap record from Margaret Farquahar-Rigg. Special trophies were on offer, with Mike Peters winning the Malimson Trophy, Ian Wright the Entune Trophy and Helen Waddington the Genesis Trophy. Mike Peters leads the Championship with 62 points from Richard Sapcote and Ian Wright both on 55 points.

The Cockshoot Cup drivers had their first ever race on the Anglesey International Circuit under clear blue sky. Mike Peters was beaten away from pole position by Alan Bates in his MGB, but the Midget accelerated past on the first lap to give Mike an unchallenged win. Peter Bramble took second in the race and Class B from Alan Bates who had to put in a recovery drive after two hairy moments on the first lap put him to last place. Class A pole sitter Ian Wright was in search of a hat trick of wins and took the lead from the off, only to have his own spin and fall to the back. Graham Prosser took over the lead, but was then passed by Richard Sapcote with Steve McKie having a great race to hold on in third. All eyes were then on Ian's comeback drive which saw him catch and pass Steve and Graham, but time ran out and after a twenty minute race, a very hot Richard Sapcote won the class. Class F only had two runners with Paul Rigg taking fourth in the race and a class win. Helen Waddington was second after having a good battle with the Midgets of Richard Saxton, Chris Evans and Steve Gregory. Fastest laps, which are all records, were set by Mike Peters, Ian Wright and Paul Rigg. Mike Peters now leads the Championship from Richard Sapcote.

The Cockshoot Cup drivers took part in a combined race with the Drayton Manor Park Metros at the Silverstone International Meeting. Mike Peters took pole position in qualifying and drove a storming race through the traffic to take victory and the Tim Forwood Trophy. For most of the race Mike was pursued by Peter Bramble in his MGB rebuilt after his Oulton Park accident, but a broken alternator bracket resulted in retirement with just over a lap to go. Alan Bates then moved up into second place with new driver Andrew McGee taking third in the race and Class B in his Midget. In Class A, Ian Wright took his Midget into an early class lead, but Paul Newton was in hot pursuit until a trip into the Abbey Hairpin gravel trap put paid to his hopes. Richard Sapcote raced strongly into second from Steve McKie who was closing on Richard, and set a quicker lap time. Jeremy Toes took a solid fourth. Double victor at Donnington, Graham Prosser, retired with an over-heating engine. The MGF class was initially dominated by Paul Rigg, setting a new class lap record, but a clutch problem resulted in retirement. Helen Waddington drove a hard race to take the class win from Margaret Farquhar-Rigg. Mike Peters is now the Championship leader, with Margaret Farquhar-Rigg heading Class F and joint leaders Richard Sapcote and Ian Wright in Class A.

Round three of the Cockshoot Cup Championship for 2008 was run at the North Western Centre Seventy Fifth Birthday meeting on the full Oulton Park Circuit. Mike Peters took pole position and raced to a win, but only by two seconds from Ian Whitt in his MG Midget. There was a great scrap for third place between Peter Hiley's Midget and Peter Bramble's MGB which ended on the final lap with Peter not finishing the race. Alan Bates was also in the mix, but slipped back slightly taking fourth in class. The usual protagonists fought over the Class A points with Ian Wright coming outing on top this time from Paul Newton and Richard Sapcote. Winner of the Class in the first two races Graham Prosser had a day to forget with several spins. The MGF class was dominated by Paul Rigg with wife Margaret just beating Helen Waddington. There are now new joint Championship leaders in Ian Whitt and Paul Rigg. Graham Prosser still leads Class A. The next race is at the MGCC International Weekend at Silverstone on June 14th.

The final race of the Donnington Park MGCC race meeting took place in fading light, but still on a dry track. The Cockshoot race was again combined with the ZRs and TFs with a similar starting grid to the first race so Mike Peters once again formed up in thirty sixth place. Mike drove really well, and caught everybody except the flying Ian Whitt who clinched a second race win and joint lead in the Championship. This time, Peter Bramble took the third podium place in Class B from Alan Bates who had to spin his car in the Craner Curves to avoid hitting Paul Newton who had lost control of his Midget. With Paul once again out of the running, a delighted Graham Prosser crossed the line to take a second class win with a perfect drive to jointly lead the Championship. Richard Sapcote again finished second, but Jeremy Toes pushed hard into third place from Ian Wright. The positions were reversed in Class F with Margaret holding off Paul Rigg and Helen Waddington again taking third place. The Championship now takes a six week break with Ian Whitt and Graham Prosser as joint leaders.

The 2008 Cockshoot Cup Championship started at Donnington Park on Easter Monday in cold, but dry conditions. The Cockshoot cars raced with the modern MGZR and TF cars, the two championships producing a full thirty six car grid. Ian Whitt started from pole position in his rebuilt MG Midget and got his championship defence off to a good start by winning the race, and Class B. Second in class and fastest lap went to Mike Peters who had to start from the very back of the grid after brake problems in qualifying. Conrad Boss driving a very smart Sprite took third in class after forcing his way past Peter Bramble. In the standard Class A, Paul Newton pulled away from his rivals, setting a new lap record, but on the very last corner, his engine spluttered with over heating and Graham Prosser and Richard Sapcote rushed past with Paul coasting across the line to take third. This was Graham's first ever class win. In Class F, Paul Rigg edged out wife Margaret, with Helen Waddington driving strongly to third. Paul's fastest lap established a Class record for the circuit.
